COOKIE POLICY
Last updated September 1, 2026
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on fastero.com and in the Fastero app at app.fastero.com, what each one is for, and how you can change your mind. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally.
1. WHAT COOKIES ARE
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site recognize your browser on a later page or visit. We also use closely related technologies, such as browser local storage, and this policy covers those too.
2. YOUR CHOICE
What happens on your first visit depends on where you are, because the rules differ:
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask before setting anything optional. Until you say yes, we set only the strictly necessary cookies listed below — nothing for analytics or advertising runs beforehand.
- Elsewhere — including the United States — analytics and marketing cookies are set by default, which local rules allow, and you can turn them off at any time using the button below or the “Cookie settings” link in our footer.
We work out which applies from your device's time zone. That needs no location lookup and sends nothing about you to anyone. If we cannot tell, we ask. Whatever you choose explicitly always overrides this, wherever you are.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, and it is no harder to withdraw than it was to give:
Your choice is remembered for 180 days, after which we ask again. It is stored in a cookie shared across fastero.com and app.fastero.com, so you only answer once. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the strictly necessary ones are required for signing in, so blocking those will stop the app working.
3. STRICTLY NECESSARY COOKIES
These are required for the site and app to work — signing in, security, and remembering your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off, and we do not use them to track you for advertising.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Expires after |
|---|---|---|---|
| fastero_consent | Fastero (first party) | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again, and so the rest of this list is honoured. | 180 days |
| token | Fastero (first party) | Keeps you signed in to the Fastero app after you log in. | Session / short-lived |
| refresh_token | Fastero (first party) | Lets the app renew your sign-in without making you log in again. | Up to 30 days |
| connect.sid | Fastero (first party) | Server-side session identifier, used during sign-in and third-party data source connection flows. | Session |
| _GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Distinguishes people from bots on our sign-up and contact forms. Set for security, not analytics. | Up to 6 months |
4. ANALYTICS COOKIES
These help us understand how the site and app are used so we can fix what is broken and improve what is not. They are set only if you agree.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Expires after |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) | Counts visits and tells us which pages get used, in aggregate, so we know what to improve. | Up to 2 years |
| _hj* (app only) | Hotjar | Records how the Fastero app is used — clicks, scrolling and navigation — so we can find broken and confusing flows. | Up to 1 year |
5. MARKETING COOKIES
These let us measure which campaigns bring people to Fastero, and show relevant adverts elsewhere. They are set only if you agree.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Expires after |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au, _gcl_aw | Google Ads | Tells us which advert or campaign brought you here, so we can measure whether our advertising works. | Up to 90 days |
| IDE, test_cookie | Google DoubleClick | Used to show Fastero adverts on other sites and to avoid showing you the same one repeatedly. | Up to 13 months |
6. COOKIES SET BY OTHERS
Some cookies above are set by third parties who act as our service providers. Where they process personal information on our behalf, we have data processing terms in place with them. Their own notices describe what they do in more detail: Google and Hotjar.
Cookie names set by third parties can change without notice. If you spot something on our sites that is not described here, please tell us and we will correct it.
7. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We will update this page when the cookies we use change, and revise the “last updated” date above.
8. CONTACT
If you have questions about this policy, contact us via our contact page.
